Soft Maple is very similar to Hard Maple. Soft Maple sapwood is greyish white and may sometimes have darker colored flecks. The heartwood of Soft Maple varies from light to dark reddish brown. Soft Maple may contain some brown, but it will be minimal.

While hand scraped risers are occasionally one board, they usually consist of a few boards glued for width. Your hand scraped risers will ship slightly over length.
